3rd Asian Film Awards: “Serbis” Gets 3 Nominations; Thailand Has 1
After receiving USD 15,000 at the Pacific Meridian International Film Festival of Asian-Pacific Countries held in Vladivostok, Russia from September 13-19, 2008 for the Best Director category from his movie “Serbis”, it seems like recognition keeps on pourin’ for director Brillante Mendoza—this time as he gets nominated once more for the same category at the 3rd Asian Film Awards which will be held this coming 23 March 2009 in Hong Kong.
Along with Mendoza, we are truly proud to have Ms. Gina Pareno (who also won in Russia for the Best Actress category with a USD 10,000 cash prize) to be nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her Nanay Flor role in “Serbis”. Another salute goes to Ms. Jaclyn Jose for sharing a nomination with Ms. Pareno in the same category for her role as Nayda—still from “Serbis”.
On the other hand, Thailand receives one nomination for the Best Newcomer category. The lucky actress? Newcomer Yanin “Jeeja” Vismistananda from her debut movie, “Chocolate”. Check out more about the “Chocolate” movie from Wise Kwai.
My congratulations and best of luck to Brillante, Gina, Jaclyn and Yanin!
